Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation is thrilled to announce their Mutts Across America: 50 States/50 Shelters initiative. A total of $253,660 was donated to shelters in each of the 50 states, with the minimum donation to an individual shelter being $3000. Miranda Lambert said, “We are thrilled to be able to reach out to every state and recognize shelters and organizations working at a grassroots level to help animals. It’s those people on the ground, day in and day out, who really make a huge difference.”
The MuttNation Foundation board along with partners at the RACE (Ran's Animal Care Express) team worked diligently to find the most deserving shelters in each of the 50 states. Operating under the premise that fans, friends, colleagues and benefactors across the US have sown into MuttNation Foundation in the past year, they launched a plan to select a shelter in each of the 50 states to lend a financial hand. The criteria used in their decision to grant funds were:
• High adoption per intake rate: At least 90% successful adoption rate. Low euthanasia rate (10%)
• High volunteerism: People rarely jump on/stay on a sinking ship.
• Are they fiscally responsible? (Low administrative/staff costs)
• High activity/fundraising. Are they working hard to earn income?
• Do they have a specialty - MNF selected a zoo, a horse sanctuary, disabled pet farm, and an elderly/senior pet sanctuary, a last chance rescue for animals from other shelters and a blind farm to name a few.
• Do they work outside of the shelter to adopt out or minister to elderly, schools, etc.? Do they have a presence in the community?
• Is the website up to date with activity? Do they send newsletters? Are they current? Do they appear to still have the “fire”?
•Are they heavily advocating/helping in spay and neuter campaigns, clinics and activities?
• Are the hours of operation conducive with adequate adoption times? EX: are they open on weekends, nights, and/or weekdays? How many hours?
As explained by MNF co-founder Bev Lambert, “We believe these criteria enabled us to find those shelters standing as examples in the fight to end animal homelessness, abuse and neglect as well as those that encourage adoption, spay and neuter programs and avoid needless euthanasia. We are confident and proud to award funding to the shelters we selected so they may continue the efforts that they have exhibited in the fight.”
A complete list of the shelters that received donations is available at https://www.facebook.com/MuttNation" target="_blank">www.muttnationfoundation.com
Miranda’s love of animals led to the formation of MuttNation. The foundation has successfully raised money across the country in order to aid organizations, government institutions or entities that build animal shelters for better care, increased pet adoption and encouragement of responsible pet guardianship, rehabilitation of sick or unsocialized animals, spay/neuter programs, reduce/eliminate euthanasia of healthy animals, and train shelter dogs for purposes of therapy programs, assistance for wounded military personnel, and dogs-in-prisons programs. The mission of the organization is to end animal suffering and homelessness on every front.

Miranda Lambert, the reigning 4-time ACM and CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, headed to Thackerville, OK to headline the 6th Annual Cause for the Paws concert benefitting Miranda’s own MuttNation Foundation. On Friday, May 31st, Miranda took the stage at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, OK.
MuttNation has raised more than $400,000 for its cause so far in 2013 from Cause for the Paws and various other donations – including continual fundraising efforts by individual groups of Ran Fans. The Cause for the Paws event raised funds through a combination of ticket sales, a live auction, an eBay auction, raffle tickets, vendors donating their services and private donations.
Popular items from the eBay auction included a Mini Replica “Blake and Miranda Wedding,” an autographed George Strait cowboy hat & two tickets to his sold out show in Texas, and autographed Luke Bryan and Taylor Swift guitars.
MuttNation Foundation has been actively helping reunite families with pets lost in last month’s devastating tornadoes in Oklahoma and finding new homes for pets in need.
Miranda’s love of animals led to the formation of MuttNation. The foundation has successfully raised money across the country in order to aid organizations and governmental institutions or entities that build animal shelters for better care, increase pet adoption and encourage responsible pet guardianship, rehabilitate sick or unsocialized animals, fund spay/neuter programs, reduce/eliminate euthanasia of healthy animals, and train shelter dogs for purposes of therapy programs, assistance for wounded military personnel, and dogs-in-prisons programs.
“I feel so blessed to be able to continue the work of MuttNation Foundation in aiding and assisting animals in need,” said Miranda “Aside from music, this is my biggest passion in life, and I find it so rewarding to help end animal suffering and homelessness.”
“This year we were so proud to bring Cause for the Paws 6 to Miranda's adopted home state of Oklahoma,” said Bev Lambert, the Director of MuttNation. “Our early decision proved to be a very timely one. Just before our event date the devastating tornado hit the Oklahoma City area. MuttNation Foundation went into full action. As a result, during the event we pledged all incoming funds via our Facebook page to the affected animal rescue and relief where we had two mobile shelter units, Pedigree food delivery and a mobile animal hospital deployed. The fact that we raised nearly half a million dollars is beyond belief! Miranda and I promise, without reservation, that all funds from the event as well as incoming donations, will be used in the most frugal and effective ways to insure that pets across the U.S., and specifically now in Oklahoma, are rescued, sheltered, housed and adopted in a manner that aligns with our mission: to end animal suffering and homelessness on every front!”

Country boy Blake Shelton has a stranger "honey do" list than most. He shared a few of his duties with his Twitter followers this week. Blake tweeted, "Statement just made in the Shelton household: "After you throw that snake out please get the scorpion off the door!!! #country." Living out in the country certainly has its benefits but the snakes and scorpions aren't those! In the past, Blake has posted pictures of a wild ostritch, among others, and combined with being an avid outdoorsman he and wife Miranda Lambert are definitely, as he puts it, "backwoods legit"!

Blake Shelton is partnering with NBC to organize a benefit concert for the victims of the tornado that ripped through Oklahoma on May 20, killing at least 24 people and destroying the city of Moore, Oklahoma.
“We’ll know more about it in the next 24 hours,” Shelton told Billboard at the conclusion of the Tuesday edition of The Voice. “I’m hoping it will raise a lot of money. Obviously it will be televised and will happen really quickly.”
Shelton hails from Ada, Okla., located approximately 75 miles south of where the tornado touched down.
Blake and his wife, Miranda Lambert, opened Tuesday night's The Voice with Lambert’s recent hit ballad, “Over You.”
“I think it was the perfect song for this situation,” Shelton said. “The moment was right and I wish things would’ve been different and I wouldn’t have been thinking about performing a song like that.”

Lambert adds, “You spend all this money for make-up and eyelashes and spray tanners just to wipe it all off at the end of the night.”
