Critically-acclaimed country music singer/songwriter and Black River Entertainment recording artist Kellie Pickler will guest host ABC Television’s “The Chew” today, April 1st, which airs at 12:00 PM (noon) EDT / 11:00 AM CDT. “I always look forward to learning a few new things in the kitchen at 'The Chew'," said Pickler. "And, I’ll be on the show on April Fool’s Day, so who knows what mischievousness we’ll cook up!"

Pickler first appeared on “The Chew” in 2012 and has been eager to return to the top-rated daytime show and its audience of more than 3.165 million viewers. As part of her role as guest host, Pickler will be on camera throughout the show, chatting with the other hosts, cooking in the kitchen, interacting with the audience, and of course, talking about her new album, The Woman I Am, which Rolling Stone gave 3.5 stars and Engine 145 wrote “affirms her status as an authentic personality and, more importantly, an intelligent picker of songs.”

Luke Bryan Surprises Charlie Daniels

Legendary musician Charlie Daniels hosted a special free concert in a packed Allen Arena on the Lipscomb University campus Tuesday night, March 25 as part of the Copperweld Charlie Daniels’ Scholarship for Heroes event.

Performances by the Charlie Daniels Band along with Clint Black, Kellie Pickler, The Grascals, the U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters and the American Hitmen were part of the program to celebrate military veterans and raise funds and bring greater awareness of the national Veterans Yellow Ribbon education program and to raise awareness of and funds for veterans scholarships at Lipscomb University. Members of the military and their families were guests of the events corporate sponsors. Proceeds from the event benefitted Lipscomb University’s Charlie Daniels Scholarship for Heroes Fund.

To the delight of attendees, two additional artists made appearances. Lee Greenwood took the stage early in the evening with a performance of his anthem-hit, “God Bless the USA.” Reeling from the all-star performances, the crowd erupted as ACM “Entertainer of the Year” Luke Bryan took the stage.

"The sacrifices these veterans and their families have made help keep our country free," stated Bryan. "We should take care of them in whatever ways that we can, and that includes a good college education."

The event, sponsored by Copperweld, Humana, Grand Avenue, Twice Daily, Clear Channel, Shofner Vision Center, Lipscomb, Glover Group Entertainment, and produced by David Corlew & Associates was streamed live worldwide by Blue Scout Media and will also be broadcast to all US military bases in coming weeks by the Pentagon Channel and Armed Forces TV. To view the show or for further information, please visit:stagehop.com.

This show just gets bigger every year as the Nashville community continues to show how much they love and support our military,” beamed Daniels.

Daniels launched the event in March 2010. Each year, up to ten veteran students receive the Charlie Daniels Scholarship for Heroes, which benefits veterans who do not qualify for Lipscomb’s Yellow Ribbon Enhancement Program that offers eligible Post-9/11 GI Bill veterans and their family members an undergraduate degree tuition-free or a graduate degree either tuition-free or at a greatly reduced tuition rate.

It’s an honor to be part of something special like the Charlie Daniels’ Scholarship for Heroes event,” Clint Black stated. “As if it weren’t enough that Charlie Daniels asked me to sing—our troops occupy a very special place in our history. We have to do our utmost to make sure the part we play in their history is worthy of their sacrifice and commitment. This event is playing a fantastic role, making higher education a reality for returning veterans. I’m thrilled to be a part of this special evening.”

Some of country music’s biggest names helped Daniels raise awareness through this event. Clint Black, has had 22 No.1 singles on the Billboard country charts. Black River Entertainment artist and “Dancing with the Stars” champion Kellie Pickler released her fourth album,'The Woman I Am', last year. Grammy-nominated group, The Grascals, have become one of the most acclaimed bands on today’s bluegrass scene for their innovative mingling of bluegrass and country music. The Navy Band Sea Chanters is the United States Navy’s official chorus. The American Hitmen, Marines and brothers Dan and Tim Cord, formed in the midst of battle in Fallujah, Iraq, and have recently been featured on “America’s Got Talent.” Today, the band also includes former Marine Dan Jarmon, bass guitar, and drummer Phil Snyder.

In Case You Missed It: Kellie Pickler on "Ellen" and "Ferguson"

Posted by Administrator on November 14, 2013 at 3:35 PM Comments comments (0)

Country music singer/songwriter Kellie Pickler released her new album, The Woman I Am, on Monday, and has been making the media rounds with appearances and performances on several television shows this week. The Woman I Am was produced by Luke Wooten and Frank Liddell and features her current single “Little Bit Gypsy.” This is her first album for Black River Entertainment.

On Monday, Nov. 11, the reigning Mirror Ball champion appeared live on ABC Television’s “Dancing with the Stars” to cheer on this season’s contestants. During her chat with host Tom Bergeron, it was announced that Pickler will return to “Dancing with the Stars” on Monday, Nov. 25 to perform during the show’s Finale Week. Click HERE to view the appearance.

On Wednesday, Nov. 13, Pickler appeared on the syndicated “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” Watch the interview HERE and performance HERE. Later that night, she appeared on “Late Night with Craig Ferguson.” Watch that interview HERE and performance HERE.

The Woman I Am has already received praise from music critics, including:

“Continuing to mature into a top-class country singer, [Pickler]…has grown from a competent interpreter of others' songs into an artist with her own vision and style. As a songwriter and vocalist, she's held onto the charm of her back-country personality while growing into a confident stylist …Add Pickler's name to the list of women making outstanding albums in a year where men dominate country radio and the media.” – Michael McCall, Associated Press

“Too bad Pickler's best known for her personality, because her albums are as much fun as hearing her talk. (Three stars)” – Brian Mansfield, USA Today

"On a dozen new tracks, that sound spans the sonic country landscape between the lead-off single, the pining ballad 'Someone Somewhere Tonight,' and its breezy, country-rock follow-up, 'Little Bit Gypsy.' The guitar-heavy, shuffling song, which Pickler says is the record's poppiest moment, sounds like her take on Tom Petty covering Elvis Costello's 'You Belong To Me." – Adam Gold, Rolling Stone

“Pickler's growth is impressive, but she is still at her most charming when she lets that sassiness out. With The Woman I Am, Pickler shows how the next phase of her career may be bigger than she ever dreamed. Grade: B+” – Glenn Gamboa, Newsday

“…Pickler is still one of the most exciting and underrated voices in country music. The Woman I Am is rooted in classic sounds, with a few nods to contemporary country, but none of it comes across as pandering…. The Woman I Am is the autobiographical declaration of a talented North Carolina native who continues to channel the sounds of Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire.” – Erik Ernst, Journal Sentinel

After performing on “Dancing with the Stars” on Monday, Nov. 25, Pickler will travel to New York City to perform on ABC Television’s “The View” on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Two days later, she will make her debut appearance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, Nov. 28 (broadcast live on NBC Television), where she will ride on a float and perform. The following week, she will perform on “CMA Country Christmas,” airing on Monday, Dec. 2 on ABC Television.
