Willie Nelson & His Family Release 'Wild Horses' Video

Posted by Administrator on October 9, 2011 at 3:10 PM

Willie Nelson and members of his family teamed up with Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) earlier this year to release a remake of the Rolling Stones Song "Wild Horses." This month, they released a video of the song shot on their family property in Texas. The video showcases many of the wild and domestic horses the Nelson family has saved from slaughter over the years. The Nelson family members are long-time supporters of AWI and of the wild horses right to roam free upon the land as they have for hundreds of years. The proceeds from the song and video will benefit this great cause. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has been charged with the care and protection of these wild horses, and yet have scaled back the agreed land mass to be left for the preservation of these horses. This, they claim, has necessitated the roundup of many of these beautiful, wild and free creatures – resulting in their eventual slaughter. AWI and the Nelsons claim that BLM is mismanaging their responsibility of maintaining the iconic animals that are such a large part of Americans wild west history. They maintain that at the current rate of land retraction, roundup and slaughter, these horses will eventually no longer exist. Willie Nelson and his family are donating all proceeds from the sale of this song to AWI. Please download a copy of the Nelson family’s song and visit AWI to learn more about the wild horse program and what you can do to help.  You can watch the video by clicking on the picture above.
