Seven-time GRAMMY award winning trio Lady Antebellum dropped the lead single “Bartender” off their upcoming fifth studio album today. The swampy, sultry breakup anthem is available at Country Radio now and will be available for purchase at digital retailers on May 20.
Written by Lady A’s Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott and co-writer Rodney Clawson, the trio enlisted Nathan Chapman to co-produce the new single featuring Scott’s lead vocal and the trio’s signature harmonies.
“For this new stuff, we wanted keep the core of Lady A, while also experimenting with new sounds and ideas,” said Kelley. “Nathan was really instrumental in pushing us to try different harmonies and new songs that were a little out of the box for us. There’s a lot of energy that comes with those changes and ‘Bartender’ is just of taste of what we’ve been working on.”
Rather than the late night drunk-dial approach of the band's international smash hit "Need You Now," these lyrics are poised to become a female anthem centered around washing an ex's memory away with whiskey on a wild girls' night out.
“I love this song because there’s something empowering about not going for the rebound or just moping around over a guy,” said Scott. “There are those times in your life when you need to feel sorry for yourself and be sad, but this song is all about hitting the dance floor with your girlfriends and just forgetting him.”
“We’ve been crazy busy writing, and when we’re this deep into it, we get so excited about new music that we can’t wait to get it out,” added Dave Haywood. “We’ve been outdoors playing amphitheaters and are loving the energy that the fans bring to those outdoor shows. So, when we sat down to write with Rodney for the first time, we really wanted some new stuff to keep fans on their feet.”
The trio is set to perform the new single when they kick off Good Morning America’s summer concert series live from Central Park on May 23. From New York City, the trio will continue on their headlining 2014 TAKE ME DOWNTOWN TOUR. For more information on new music and upcoming tour dates, visit: www.ladyantebellum.com.

Seven-time GRAMMY award-winning trio Lady Antebellum revealed their new single “Compass” to fans today on Facebook. Also shipping to Country Radio today, "Compass" is an arena sized sing-along driven by banjo and mandolin instrumentation. It will be available on iTunes tomorrow and will be included in a special edition GOLDEN DELUXE in stores Nov. 12. Recent time off from the road has allowed the trio to channel their efforts off-stage by exploring new musical boundaries, resulting in a studio session too pivotal to ignore.
“We’ve had a lot time off from the road this summer to focus on our personal lives and really clear our heads…we've never done that before,” said Lady A’s Charles Kelley. “That break was more beneficial than we ever thought it would be and through some experimentation in the studio with Nathan Chapman, we found this new song that we knew we had to really dig into."
“It was love at first listen with 'Compass,'” continued Dave Haywood. “You hear people talk about songs they knew they couldn't live without, and this is one of them for us. Once we all got in the studio to record our parts and really work with the instrumentation, it took on an energy that felt really fresh and different. We tried some new things vocally, and by adding foot stomps and hand claps to the acoustic sounds of the banjo, fiddle and mandolin, it really turned into something special.”
“I immediately fell in love with the spirit of the song,” added Hillary Scott. “As we made it our own, we decided we had to share it with the fans immediately…we just couldn't wait! They’ve been so patient with us over the last few months as I’ve begun a new chapter in my life personally. Everything takes on new meaning once you have a child, and now I can hear the message of the song through Eisele's ears too. It opens up a whole new world to you as an artist."

The harmony-based trio Lady Antebellum continues to reaffirm the very beginnings of Lady Antebellum by focusing on deft songwriting and fresh uses of their talents, which was at the heart of what drew them together in the first place. Since its 2006 inception, Lady A has won the “Vocal Group of the Year” honor from both the CMA and from the ACM’s three times in a row and sold over 11 million albums worldwide. The trio has taken seven trips to No. one on the country radio charts, earned five Platinum singles including their recent “Downtown” and has been awarded with seven GRAMMY awards including the all-genre “Record of the Year” and “Song of the Year.” In the end, the mix of their road experiences, songwriting and creative partnership have allowed the magic to remain – because they have kept the focus on the music.
Platinum-selling artist Kip Moore’s current No. one hit “Hey Pretty Girl” is the third consecutive chart-topper off his debut album UP ALL NIGHT, which was the best selling debut album from any country artist released last year. His first No. one single, “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck,” held the top spot on both charts for two weeks making him the first solo artist in four years to have a debut album’s first single go No. one for multiple weeks. Moore has already sold out dozens of headlining shows this year, often in just minutes and recently played his first stadium show as part of CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock.
Nashville-based singer/songwriter, Kacey Musgraves released her debut album Same Trailer Different Park this past spring to massive critical acclaim and recognition. The album debuted at No. one on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart making her the first solo female in five years to open at No. one with a rookie release. She’s received ACM, CMT and Teen Choice Award nominations and her Top 10 single “Merry Go ‘Round” was recently certified Gold and follow up single “Blowin’ Smoke” is currently climbing the charts.

While everyone had their attention diverted by Kate’s baby watch in England, country music was celebrating their own "royal baby." Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott and her husband, drummer Chris Tyrrell, welcomed their first child -- a girl -- Monday (July 22nd). Eisele Kaye Tyrell weighed in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces. Pronounced Eyes-lee, it’s a combination of Chris’ mother’s maiden name and Hillary’s mom’s middle name (Kaye).
"She is incredibly gorgeous,” proud dad Chris tells People.
Hillary and Chris tied the knot in January 2012 during an intimate ceremony in Upstate New York, following a six-month engagement. Hillary announced the pregnancy in December, and revealed in March that they were expecting a girl.
Hillary tweeted the photo above and wrote, “She's here, and we are in HEAVEN!!! Eisele Kaye, our beautiful angel, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!” The next day she tweeted, "Thanks to EVERYONE for the congratulations, prayers, support, and love for our precious Eisele Kaye! She has completely stolen our hearts!"
In the meantime, Lady A’s latest single “Goodbye Town,” is making its way up the country charts.

People awarded the new album 3.5 out of 4 stars, calling it “their best yet.”

“Lady A continues to experiment and grow while sounding like no one else in contemporary country music.” – Associated Press
“...GOLDEN, the band’s fourth and finest album.” – Washington Post
“Imparting honest lyrics with spot-on harmonies swathed in infectious melodies, GOLDEN is ultimately a shining example of what Lady Antebellum does best. With it seamless mingling of poignant ballads and upbeat tunes, it’s a stone cold winner from country music’s top trio.” – American Songwriter

The result of a session between Haywood, Kelley, Scott and Josh Kear, “Goodbye Town” was written backstage during the trio’s OWN THE NIGHT 2012 WORLD TOUR.
“Josh came out to see us on the road because that's where we did so much of the writing for this album,” said Kelley. “There’s just something about this song that I think people can relate to. It's that time after a breakup when everything about a place reminds you of that person, so all you want to do is just get the hell out of there. We really wanted the production to reflect that almost haunting feeling.”
