Miranda Lambert is currently on the road for the Locked and Reloaded Tour with Dierks Bentley, but the award winning singer / songwriter is committed to making time to work with Pistol Annies, the trio she formed with Ashley Monroe and Angeleena Presley. In a recent interview, she says working with the group means she doesn’t have to always be at the center of every song — and she likes that.
“I love sharing the stage with my two talented, lovely friends, Ashley and Angaleena. It takes some of the pressure off me!” Lambert tells Lancaster Online. “They are amazing singer-songwriters, and when we get together, we always have a good time and create pretty original art. Our songs express things that most women think but just won’t say. It’s kind of a different vibe from my solo music, so it is great being able to be adventurous and to get Ashley and Angaleena’s voices heard.”
The trio’s first album, ‘Hell on Heels,’ came out in 2011, and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. Lambert says they have been writing for a follow-up ever since, “and we really kicked it into high gear this past fall.” In a seperate interview, she told the Hollywood Reporter, “We just finished our second album, the Annies and I. And we did a photo shoot this week, [and] it’ll be out in a couple months.”
Miranda will also be heading back into the studio this fall to record the follow-up to her award-winning solo album 'Four the Record'.
